Two hippies bike across the United States, hitching up with a drop-out lawyer on their way to New Orleans.
The film experience before Apocalypse Now that was about the experience of making it as much as anything else. It caught the mood of the times perfectly, and showed the studios that there was a whole new audience out there that they were simply ignoring at their peril. Today it has an invaluable 'state of the nation' feel to it, as it captures that Vietnam/drop-out period so well.
