Director: Bertrand Tavernier
Cast: Sophie Marceau, Philippe Noiret
Left in a convent by her illustrious father, Eloïse is angered by the sacrifice of a sister to a nobleman's whim and begins a life of notoriety.
Tavernier's attempt at a Fanfan la Tulipe-style nostalgic swashbuckler is uneven in tone, and the choice of Noiret as an albeit ageing D'Artagnan peculiar indeed. Nevertheless, it contrives one or two moments in the best cinéma de qualité tradition.
