When a wealthy museum curator is murdered, the assistant district attorney uncovers a sexual blackmail scam and comes to suspect an old flame who is now his best friend's wife.
The obscure motivation of the heroine, who is set up as villainess for much of the movie, is ultimately never explored but dropped in favour of an eleventh-hour explanation involving police corruption. Sufficiently slickly made, however, to pass the time enjoyably until then, and with an interesting new face in Caruso.
