Country: FR/IR/EGY/BOS-HER/BURK-FAS/GB/MEX/ISR/IND/US/JAP
Technical: col 134m
Director: Samira Makhmalbaf, Claude Lelouch, Youssef Chahine, Danis Tanovic, Idrissa Ouedraogo, Ken Loach, Alejandro González Iñárritu, Amos Gitaï, Mira Nair, Sean Penn, Shohei Imamura
Cast: Ernest Borgnine, many others

Synopsis:

Eleven personal responses to the attack on the World Trade Center, separated by Night on Earth-style 'map of the world' interludes.

Review:

The segments vary from a sympathetic human response regardless of culture (Makhmalbaf, Chahine) to the politically qualified one (Loach, Tanovic), and from the sublime (Iñárritu, Imamura) to the ridiculous (Penn, Ouedraogo). As with all such exercises one takes the rewards where one can find them, and it is clear that for many the shock is too recent to be mediated. Having said that, this is far superior artistically to Aria.
