99 Homes (2014)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/2.35:1 112m
Director: Ramin Bahrani
Cast: Michael Shannon, Andrew Garfield, Laura Dern

Synopsis:

A Florida construction worker loses his family home to the bank, just as his source of work dries up. Living with his mother and son in a motel, he starts to work for the realtor who has bought up the options on most foreclosed homes in the area, and for a time moral vision is blinded by economic need, then greed.

Review:

This horrifying view of the economic downturn post-2008 is also one of the most eloquent of exposés of the flaw at the heart of the American Dream: where materialism is the ultimate goal, it is ultimately only attainable by the few.
