After Office Hours (1935)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: bw 75m
Director: Robert Z. Leonard
Cast: Clark Gable, Constance Bennett, Stuart Erwin, Billie Burke

Synopsis:

A newspaper editor fancies a society dame but can't keep his mind of solving the murder of one of her circle long enough to get around to making love to her.

Review:

An MGM hit and just the kind of movie the thirties needed to cheer everyone up and still retain some bite (i.e. please the critics). Preposterous, but well cast, written by Herman Mankiewicz and directed at one hundred miles an hour by Leonard, an accomplished studio hack with a background in silent comedy and musicals.
