Animal Kingdom (2010)

£0.00

Country: AUS
Technical: col/2.35:1 113m
Director: David Michôd
Cast: James Frecheville, Guy Pearce, Joel Edgerton, Jacki Weaver, Ben Mendelsohn

Synopsis:

A teenager, born into a family of criminals and drug addicts, fights to preserve his autonomy while resisting the blandishments of law-enforcement officers, but ends up just like them.

Review:

Depressing, but no doubt accurate, this lucid drama drags the swamp of Melbourne's criminal milieux and finds that all life is there, some chilling, some oddly charismatic. Small wonder that the young protagonist spends the film looking like a rabbit in headlights. Acting, music and general handling avoid the sensationalism one might expect, and make for a gripping ride.
