As You Desire Me (1932)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: bw 71m
Director: George Fitzmaurice
Cast: Greta Garbo, Melvyn Douglas, Erich von Stroheim

Synopsis:

A dissolute Hungarian café singer living with a novelist is coaxed away to the estate of an Italian army officer until she remembers that she is his wife. Then the novelist turns up with an amnesiac he claims is the real Maria...

Review:

The kind of absurd Ruritanian melodrama Hollywood was still making three years into the sound era, but that would soon all but disappear. This one is watchable because it boasts at least two acting talents in their element; Douglas was more at home in comedy.
