The American President (1995)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/2.35:1 114m
Director: Rob Reiner
Cast: Michael Douglas, Annette Bening, Martin Sheen, Michael J. Fox, Richard Dreyfuss

Synopsis:

A Democrat president's preparations for re-election are marked by two key pieces of legislation, on crime and fossel fuel emissions, all of which is threatened by his incipient relationship with the negotiating lawyer employed by the Green lobby.

Review:

Whimsical romantic comedy with leanings towards political drama, which both implicitly and explicitly evokes the spirit of Frank Capra. Whether or not two people in their situation would risk so much, the film relishes its liberal agenda and sprinkles enough good lines among its able cast to appeal strongly to a partial audience.
