The Alpinist (2021)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col 92m
Director: Peter Mortimer, Nick Rosen
Cast: doc.

Synopsis:

A film portrait of Marc-André Leclerc, a Canadian mountaineer, or 'alpinist', who favours solo climbs without rope or equipment.

Review:

Interviews with the subject, his girlfriend, mother and climbing fraternity, alternate with white-knuckle footage of him climbing, the helmet camera being the most hair-raising. A picture is built up of an almost mystical climber who pushes his own limits and prizes a feeling oneness with the mountain over all else. The only snag are the limitations this places on the film-makers' access during the climbs.
