Baba Yaga (1973)

£0.00

(Baba Yaga, Devil Witch)

Country: IT/FR
Technical: Eastmancolor 91m
Director: Corrado Farina
Cast: Carroll Baker, Isabelle De Funès, George Eastman, Daniela Balzaretti, Ely Galleani

Synopsis:

A fashion photographer meets a mesmerisingly intense woman who puts a spell on her camera, and uses her to transmit sado-erotic imagery to her through the agency of an enchanted doll.

Review:

Drearily acted and breast-fixated occult thriller which, if the titles are anything to go by, delivers far less erotic promise than the graphic novel on which it was based. Goggle-eyed Barbara Steele lookalike, De Funès, encounters real peril very late in the day, and the manner in which the hero despatches her tormentor is perfunctory to say the least. Miss Baker's is a notably chilly performance, given her obviously Sapphic proclivities.
