Babylon A.D. (2008)

£0.00

Country: FR/GB/US
Technical: col/2.35:1 90m
Director: Mathieu Kassovitz
Cast: Vin Diesel, Michelle Yeoh, Mélanie Thierry, Charlotte Rampling, Mark Strong, Lambert Wilson, Gérard Depardieu

Synopsis:

2027: acting on behalf of a powerful salvationist sect, Russian mafia use their hold over a mercenary troubleshooter to escort a uniquely gifted young woman from a convent in Kirghizia to New York City. They must run the gamut of terrorists, criminals and people smugglers.

Review:

For the most part incomprehensible, until it becomes risible, this dystopian action thriller seems uncertain how seriously it wants to be taken, but the casting of the lumpen, mumbling Mr Diesel would seem to set the seal on it. Kassovitz’s no longer intriguing presence is discernible solely in some playful European casting. An abject waste of $70 million.
