Beat the Devil (1953)

£0.00

Country: GB
Technical: bw 100m
Director: John Huston
Cast: Humphrey Bogart, Jennifer Jones, Gina Lollobrigida, Robert Morley, Peter Lorre

Synopsis:

An English couple (Bogie and Lollo, no less!) board a steamer in Italy bound for North Africa. Also making the journey is a quartet of international crooks and other parties, apparently intent on doing more than sell vacuum cleaners.

Review:

Eccentric semi-remake of The Maltese Falcon in which Jones comes off best, giving a gripping and seductive performance as an unbalanced femme fatale. Not a very satisfactory whole, however.
