A pair of conspiracy theorists with a longstanding grudge against a pharmaceutical company kidnap the CEO and try to use her to make contact with her Andromedan mother ship.
Review:
Protracted hostage drama with absurdist trimmings typical of the director. The apiarist strain in the plot is in tune with the zoological leanings of his previous outings (Dogtooth, Lobster), but the idea that the planet is being destroyed by humans seems merely naïve and belated. As for the final twist reveal, it adds little more than an opportunity to get inside the recently exploded heads of our kidnappers. A cinema of ideas, then, with deadpan humour, terrific art direction, full-blooded violence and a pounding score.
