Bullet in the Head (1990)

£0.00

(Dip huet gai tau)

Country: HK
Technical: col 136m
Director: John Woo
Cast: Tony Leung, Jacky Cheung, Waise Lee, Simon Yam

Synopsis:

With Hong Kong in the throes of the Cultural Revolution, three friends slay a neighbourhood hoodlum and take off to Indochina, where they fall foul of the local mafia and South Vietnamese army.

Review:

Ultra-violence merchant John Woo channels Mean Streets, Once upon a Time in America and The Deer Hunter in this sentimental, overlong, and preposterously mounted gangster epic. The bravura choreography and editing effects that would soon come to the notice of Hollywood are unfortunately at the service of a trite scenario, banal dialogue, and sudden lurches in characterisation.
