Country: US/SP/GB/FR
Technical: col/2.35:1 95m
Director: Rodrigo Cortés
Cast: Ryan Reynolds
Synopsis:
A truck driver doing humanitarian work in Iraq is buried alive by insurgents, together with a mobile phone, a knife and a Zippo.
Review:
Modish situational thriller set entirely in a makeshift wooden coffin, whose dimensions become conveniently flexible. The script and characterisations stray fatally into the realm of melodrama and histrionics, and much will depend on your taste for sharing space exclusively with the star over this length of time. For this viewer it lost credibility the moment he jeoparised his oxygen supply by leaving the lighter on, and would his Nokia really work so well long-distance under a few feet of sand? On the plus side, there is a nice twist at the end.
