The Body Snatcher (1945)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: bw 77m
Director: Robert Wise
Cast: Henry Daniell, Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi

Synopsis:

A doctor employs the services of a murderous ruffian to procure the cadavers he needs for his research.

Review:

A variation on the Burke and Hare story, taken from an R.L. Stevenson novella, this late Val Lewton production at RKO was unusual in casting three actors from the genre 'A' list. He would retain Karloff's services for the remaining two films in the series. It is consequently a more substantial, full-blooded affair, with a period setting and gothic decor; whether it is preferred to its more understated brethren will be a matter of personal taste.
