The Boston Strangler (1968)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/scope 118m
Director: Richard Fleischer
Cast: Henry Fonda, Tony Curtis, George Kennedy, Sally Kellerman

Synopsis:

A series of apparently random murders grips the city of Boston, leaving the police at a loss for leads. Ultimately, as the killer is made known to us the audience, fate intervenes and he reveals himself as a schizophrenic unaware of what the other half of his personality is doing.

Review:

Tricksy real-life reconstruction of the notorious strangler case, with copious recourse to split-screen narration as a metonymy for the 'left hand knows not what the right hand etc.' resolution of the mystery. Curtis, in false nose makeup, bravely breaks with his traditional character type, and Fonda plays a more callous figure than usual.
