Captain Phillips (2013)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/2.35:1 134m
Director: Paul Greengrass
Cast: Tom Hanks, Barkhad Abdi, Catherine Keener

Synopsis:

An American container ship's captain strives to contain a hijacking situation when Somali pirates board his vessel.

Review:

Immersive, totally engrossing real-life drama in which, most of the time, we remain glued to Hanks's elbow, but the plight of the hijackers themselves is treated with due consideration as to their limited choices. Greengrass again uses a (slightly amped up) docu-drama aesthetic, clearly having US Navy resources at his disposal for the film's desperate hostage retrieval endgame.
