Carry on Sergeant (1958)

£0.00

Country: GB
Technical: bw 83m
Director: Gerald Thomas
Cast: Bob Monkhouse, William Hartnell, Kenneth Williams, Charles Hawtrey, Shirley Eaton, Kenneth Connor

Synopsis:

A veteran drill sergeant hopes to retire flush with the success of turning out another model squad of recruits, but he hasn't reckoned with the bunch of no-hopers fate has in store for him.

Review:

This first outing in what was to prove a long (and not quite illustrious) series of revue-like comedy sendups came unfortunately close on the heels of Private's Progress. Nevertheless it has some choice moments, such as Hawtrey on bayonet practice, and professional contributions from performers who thenceforth wisely chose to stay away.
