Chinatown (1974)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/scope 131m
Director: Roman Polanski
Cast: Jack Nicholson, Faye Dunaway, John Huston

Synopsis:

1930s L.A.: a private detective investigates massive diversions of water by the water board during a drought and uncovers a real estate scam, murder and incest.

Review:

A class act: producer Robert Evans assembled an ideal cast and director for this compelling intrigue by Robert Towne which looked back in a 'neo-noir' sense but was also just another aspect of the early seventies unease with politicians and officialdom. It is without ostentation but tells its tale simply, backed by excellent cinematography and nerve-jangling music. It also has the two leads at the top of their craft.
