Clash of the Titans (1981)

£0.00

Country: GB
Technical: col/scope 118m
Director: Desmond Davis
Cast: Laurence Olivier, Claire Bloom, Maggie Smith, Ursula Andress, Harry Hamlin, Judi Bowker

Synopsis:

Perseus slays the gorgon Medusa and rescues Andromeda from the sea monster.

Review:

Latterday attempt to revive the Ray Harryhausen formula, with gutsy animation and special effects, and new-fashioned nudity, but sporting a wooden lead even by Todd Armstrong's standard, and a somewhat portentous Zeus. In short, none of the sense of fun of such as Jason and the Argonauts; certainly Rosenthal's derivative score is no replacement for Bernard Herrmann's.
