Come Fill the Cup (1951)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: bw 113m
Director: Gordon Douglas
Cast: James Cagney, Gig Young, Raymond Massey

Synopsis:

A former alcoholic newspaperman has to keep his boss's nephew on the wagon, but the lad is in trouble with the Mob and has lost his heart to a cabaret singer, so the task is not easy.

Review:

Interesting melodrama, different in its mixing of elements from other genres (gangster film, even comedy), and with some excellent acting to pull it off. It was with Lost Weekend one of the rare films to deal with alcoholism in Hollywood cinema (not a terribly commercial subject).
