La casa de Bernarda Alba (1987)

£0.00

Country: SP
Technical: col 103m
Director: Mario Camus
Cast: Irene Gutiérrez Caba, Ana Belén, Enriqueta Carballeira

Synopsis:

A widowed Spanish matriarch imposes a seven year period of mourning on her five daughters, during which they are not allowed to leave the house or see their suitors.

Review:

A work of theatre that gained in poignancy from being completed so close to Lorca's murder in the Civil War, Bernarda Alba may be uncinematic in concept but, in this version at least, turns unity of action to its advantage and presents the themes of passion and repression forcefully thanks to the conviction of its performances.
