The Clay Bird (2002)

£0.00

(Matir moina)

Country: FR/BANG
Technical: col 99m
Director: Tareque Masud
Cast: Nurul Islam Bablu, Russell Farazi, Jayanto Chattopadhyay

Synopsis:

While East Pakistan struggles for independence from its greater self, a young boy is sent off to an Islamic school by his stern, born-again Muslim father. Remaining behind with her mother, the younger sister meanwhile falls victim to his homeopathic beliefs.

Review:

Slow and rather crude marrying of personal travails with national upheaval, achieving some moments of quiet beauty but generally failing to distract attention from the poverty of resources at the makers' disposal.
