The Comic (1969)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col 95m
Director: Carl Reiner
Cast: Dick Van Dyke, Mickey Rooney, Cornel Wilde

Synopsis:

The rise and fall of a silent film comedian, loosely based on the career of Buster Keaton.

Review:

A film which does no one any favours, least of all Keaton, whose eleventh hour rediscovery the screenplay overlooks. Your appreciation may also be affected by your perception of the relative comic merits of Van Dyke and, well, any comic actor you care to name really. In attempting to reinstate the memories of the fraternity of silent comedians it at least has its heart in the right place, but then very few bothered to go and see it.
