The Crimson Pirate (1952)

£0.00

Country: US/GB
Technical: col 104m
Director: Robert Siodmak
Cast: Burt Lancaster, Nick Cravat, Eva Bartok

Synopsis:

Captain Vallo commandeers a British vessel and embarks on a series of money-making schemes in the waters of the eighteenth century Caribbean, dubbing himself 'the Crimson Pirate'.

Review:

One of two films Warners made with Lancaster to exploit his acrobatic talents (the other was The Flame and the Arrow), and indeed the star's performance here is more akin to a circus demonstration than a nuanced piece of acting, that impudent grin never far from his lips. Colourful, undemanding fun.
