The Curse of the Cat People (1944)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: bw 70m
Director: Robert Wise, Gunther von Fritsch
Cast: Kent Smith, Simone Simon, Jane Randolph

Synopsis:

The daughter of Alice and Oliver Reed from Cat People is a withdrawn child visited by the ghost of Irena, the cat woman of that earlier film.

Review:

This somewhat unmemorable and unrelated sequel to Cat People is so subtle in the Val Lewton manner that it is not even sure what it is getting at itself: is the child's fantasy world exactly that, or not? Is it meant to be cosy or menacing? One star for being an ambiguous Hollywood 'horror' movie, certainly not for the dialogue.
