An author of children's books loses his five year-old daughter in the streets of London, whereupon his best friend and publisher makes a bid to recapture his own lost childhood.
Review:
A BBC McEwan adaptation that rings pretty true to the book, except that the ideas and characters seem somewhat more arch on film. The child sightings are more numerous than remembered, leaving the reductive impression of 'two lost children, one found'. Once again we have middle class characters who seem incapable of communicating with one another, a McEwan trait.
