Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid (1982)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: bw 88m
Director: Carl Reiner
Cast: Steve Martin, Rachel Ward

Synopsis:

A private eye film noir narrative in which the hero meets the characters of the genre's heyday in clips from their movies.

Review:

As you might imagine from a film constructed - however ingeniously - around a series of interactions with classic film noir moments, this is archly contrived entertainment whose basic script is delivered dead-pan and largely viewed that way. The scenes with Bette Davis (for the script adaptation) and The Bribe (for the production detail surrounding the carnival climax) are particularly well achieved on a technical level.
