Death Wish (1974)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col 94m
Director: Michael Winner
Cast: Charles Bronson, Hope Lange, Vincent Gardenia

Synopsis:

A New York architect turns vigilante when his wife is attacked and killed by muggers.

Review:

The controversial aspect of Winner's setup was the way in which his character, Paul Kersey, goes out looking for trouble, seeking a potentially infinite number of victims without the salve of vengeance affording closure. That and the fact that he was played by Bronson were ultimately problematic for critics and liberal viewers. The seemingly endless sequels only made it worse, the renewed attacks on his nearest and dearest reducing them to so much expendable bait.
