Drifting Clouds (1996)

£0.00

(Kauas pilvet karkaavat)

Country: FIN/GER/FR
Technical: col 97m
Director: Aki Kaurismäki
Cast: Kati Outinen, Kari Väänänen, Elina Salo

Synopsis:

The head waitress of a restaurant and her HGV-driver husband both lose their jobs and times become hard. But the sun is just around the corner of the next cloud.

Review:

Typically of this director's deadpan style, the tone of the film doesn't seem to vary from good times to bad: the colours remain matt pastel and the actors all but expressionless. But it is their actions, dogged and hopeful, which speak louder than any despair or euphoria and which move the viewer to understanding.
