The Dish (2000)

£0.00

Country: AUS
Technical: col 101m
Director: Rob Sitch
Cast: Sam Neill, Kevin Harrington, Tom Long, Patrick Warburton

Synopsis:

At the time of the Apollo 11 Moon landing, NASA relies on a radio telescope in Parkes, Australia to receive signals from the astronauts about to make history. Fate and the elements have other plans, however.

Review:

Making much of the delight among locals over their sudden projection to the world stage (cf. State and Main), this is all the same a much more gentle satire. Indeed it frequently strains for material with which to fill up its running time before the famous TV pictures are beamed to an expectant public.
