The Defiant Ones (1958)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: bw 96m
Director: Stanley Kramer
Cast: Tony Curtis, Sidney Poitier, Theodore Bikel

Synopsis:

Two shackled convicts, one black and one white, escape a prisoner transport and must learn to get along in order to evade capture.

Review:

Kramer's schematic, by modern standards, racial drama is superbly shot and acted, both performers coming close to career best performances. Unity of action and an imaginative, well-tuned, script carry the viewer along to the rhythms of Poitier's intermittently intoned ballad: 'Bowling green!'
