Enemy of the State (1998)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: Technicolor/Panavision 132m
Director: Tony Scott
Cast: Will Smith, Gene Hackman, Jon Voight, Regina King

Synopsis:

A Washington lawyer with shady contacts gets embroiled in a National Security Agency cover-up of a political assassination (by an arm of the NSA) and finds himself a target of the security services.

Review:

A North by Northwest scenario joins a number of films of the time which featured an innocent party at the mercy of dastardly men in suits who should know better (The Fugitive, The Net, Absolute Power). Much is made of the new technology and you have to be quick to follow all the nuances, but while this is above-average Tony Scott it is very undemanding fare for everyone else concerned. (Scott cast British actors in cameos as NSA field operatives.)
