Escape from New York (1981)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/scope 99m
Director: John Carpenter
Cast: Kurt Russell, Lee Van Cleef, Donald Pleasence

Synopsis:

In 1997 a criminal is sent to rescue the President from Manhattan island, which has by then become a vast open prison.

Review:

Sloppily handled actioner, with shots held for self-indulgence and a script which works on too few levels for Science Fiction. An example of the burgeoning hydrid genre starring Schwarzenegger and his ilk; this one launched Russell as another husky-voiced Eastwood surrogate.
