The Edge of Seventeen (2016)

£0.00

Country: US/CHI
Technical: col 104m
Director: Kelly Fremon Craig
Cast: Hailee Steinfeld, Haley Lu Richardson, Blake Jenner, Kyra Sedgwick, Woody Harrelson

Synopsis:

A misfit teenager's life enters crisis mode when her only friend begins dating her elder brother.

Review:

One of those films where you sympathise with whom you will, depending on your age. However, if you can get past the obnoxious adolescent behaviour and stick with Nadine for as long as it takes, you will find there is much to endear in the closing minutes. Until then you will have to make do with the mum, and Woody Harrelson as the 'couldn't give a shit' teacher. Whether it's mobile communication or old-fashioned fear of standing out, this has a lot to offer the current generation of parents struggling to make sense of their child's fortress mentality. Produced by James L. Brooks, so there.
