Country: US/GB/IT/FR/EIRE/GER
Technical: col 110m
Director: Jim Jarmusch
Cast: Tom Waits, Adam Driver, Charlotte Rampling, Vicky Krieps, Cate Blanchett, Indya Moore
Synopsis:
Three sets of siblings 'visit' their parents in more or less dysfunctional circumstances.
Review:
Separated by psychedelic imagery, and punctuated by shots of skateboarders, Jarmusch's typically bittersweet family vignettes showcase his passion for street culture, also including automobiles, drugs and Rolex watches, but offer diminishing returns in the dramatic department. The pleasures of a globetrotting scenario and stellar cast remain, and it is nothing if not quirky, even if PGTips and Battenberg might not be the last word in contemporary self-indulgence. The last segment is so mumbled as to be all but an irrelevance.
