Synopsis:
Four men in their twenties share a ride south in a Chevrolet to deliver it to a client. On the way they take each other more or less for granted and share their views on womankind.
Review:
Not a little indebted to Les Valseuses in its nonchalant misanthropy, Cavalier's road movie begins with its car salesman losing most of his markup on a Porsche and ends with him arranging to have his wife fertilised by all three of his new friends at once on account of his own sterility. He is by far the most sympathetic of the quartet. It's a tremendous time capsule of the long hot summer in France, the Porsche going for £1,500 and the Autoroute du Soleil looking remarkably 'dégarnie'. The old hierarchy is very much intact, and with it the resentful insubordination.
