The Flesh and the Fiends (1960)

£0.00

Country: GB
Technical: bw/scope 97m
Director: John Gilling
Cast: Peter Cushing, June Laverick, George Rose, Billie Whitelaw

Synopsis:

In the 1820s, an Edinburgh doctor employs grave robbers to acquire fresh corpses for his anatomical research. However, his naïve lack of curiosity about how they come by their cadavers borders on the irresponsible.

Review:

Not entirely convincing retread of Karloff's Body Snatcher: this Burke and Hare look as though they have walked out of "Pinocchio" and 'scope is a distraction - they don't even use a coffin but rather a crate. Billie Whitelaw injects a lustiness not found in contemporary Hammers.
