Garden State (2004)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: DeLuxe/scope 102m
Director: Zach Braff
Cast: Zach Braff, Ian Holm, Ron Leibman, Natalie Portman, Peter Sarsgaard

Synopsis:

An out of work actor in L.A. flies back to New Jersey to attend his mother's funeral and picks up with his former friends, as well as making the acquaintance of a remarkable girl who helps make him realize what he needs to do with his life.

Review:

Owing something to The Graduate in its blank, bland hero returning home to familial dysfunction, this is different enough from the run-of-the-mill independent film to come as a breath of fresh air. The casting and direction are pretty astute and there are only one or two lines that ring false.
