Ginger and Fred (1986)

£0.00

(Ginger e Fred)

Country: IT/FR/GER
Technical: col 126m
Director: Federico Fellini
Cast: Marcello Mastroianni, Giulietta Masina

Synopsis:

An elderly dancing couple, who have modelled themselves on their eponymous forbears, are brought out of retirement by a tacky TV show, but transcend their exploitation as curiosities.

Review:

Fellini's glorious indictment of Italian downmarket televisual values is also a moving human comedy. As in many of the director's films, there are moments when the loud grotesqueries fade out to give way to a magical innocence, an atmosphere that yearns for timelessness but has intimations of mortality.
