Gorky Park (1983)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col 128m
Director: Michael Apted
Cast: Lee Marvin, William Hurt, Brian Dennehy, Joanna Pacula, Ian Bannen

Synopsis:

A Moscow police detective traces gruesome murders in Gorky Park to sable pelt smuggling.

Review:

An unusual direction for Hurt, who was a hot property at the time, but the Soviet setting is the film's saving grace (it was shot in Scandinavia), adding a touch of the exotic to this police procedural that had something in common with those later series like The Bridge. The political element is the twist, of course, and that carries rather less conviction.
