Green Book (2018)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/2:1 130m
Director: Peter Farrelly
Cast: Viggo Mortensen, Mahershala Ali, Linda Cardellini

Synopsis:

1960s America: a mildly racist nightclub bouncer takes a vacation job as driver for a black classical pianist. As they travel first west and then south on a tour of the states, aloofness and mutual ignorance gradually give way to respect and even friendship.

Review:

Classic Hollywood liberal values, all sewn up in a two-hander guaranteed to delight the Academy voters. Cynicism aside, it would be hard to fault the film's nuanced approach to its theme, or the charm of its extraordinary inspiration in real life. The period is beautifully caught, the performances impeccable.
