La guerre est finie (1966)

£0.00

(The War Is Over)

Country: FR
Technical: bw 122m
Director: Alain Resnais
Cast: Yves Montand, Ingrid Thulin, Geneviève Bujold, Jean Dasté

Synopsis:

A communist activist returning from Spain on a covert mission which nearly cost him his life attempts to dissuade his contacts in Paris from pursuing their plans.

Review:

A film that speaks to the lassitude and growing irrelevance of a struggle that has conducted itself, for this character at least, from a position of exile. Apart from the moments of inattention that nearly cause his arrest, this does not, however, make for compelling cinema, though, as always with Resnais, there are compensations.
