The Golden Coach (1952)

£0.00

(Le carrosse d'or)

Country: FR/IT
Technical: col 103m
Director: Jean Renoir
Cast: Anna Magnani, Duncan Lamont, Paul Campbell, Riccardo Rioli

Synopsis:

In eighteenth century Peru, an actress is courted by three men of differing social standing, who each offer her very particular enticements.

Review:

Renoir, as it were, dipping into the universe of Carné (Les enfants du paradis), and wrapping it all up in a cocoon of Vivaldi, here presents his one Italian film, though he elects to have them speak English. It is a richly coloured, flamboyant work which as usual allows the distinct characters to emerge and express their humanity.
