Harlem Nights (1989)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col 116m
Director: Eddie Murphy
Cast: Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor

Synopsis:

During Prohibition a black nightclub owner resists a gangster and a crooked cop who try to muscle in on his business.

Review:

Elements of The Sting, City Heat and The Cotton Club surface wistfully in this self-styled Murphy vehicle. It is self-indulgent and foul-mouthed, moving from gratuitous comedy to summary violence (Murphy offing the femme fatale point blank) and offending most of all in its want of ambition.
