The Hurt Locker (2008)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col 131m
Director: Kathryn Bigelow
Cast: Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, Brian Geraghty, Guy Pearce, Ralph Fiennes

Synopsis:

A bomb disposal unit in Iraq loses its leader and lives out its last 38 days before rotation with a replacement whose unorthodox methods leave his comrades reeling between homicidal rage and awed respect.

Review:

Most famously an investigation into what is termed 'the drug of war' in an opening quotation, with a hero who must live out his combat duty on the edge in order to feel alive. We also see the impact on him of a fleeting acquaintance with a young Iraqi pedlar, and as realistic a portrayal yet in a Hollywood film of what it must be like both on the streets of a hostile city and out in the desert under sniper fire.
