Institute Benjamenta, or This Dream People Call Human Life (1995)

£0.00

Country: GB
Technical: bw 105m
Director: Brothers Quay
Cast: Mark Rylance, Alice Krige, Gottfried John

Synopsis:

A man enlists at an establishment that trains servants, but the brother and sister who direct its operations are troubled by his presence there.

Review:

The first full-length feature from the brother surrealist animators, this pretentiously titled curio is a contender for the most boring film ever made. Rylance sleepwalks through the whole thing, stiff as a board, though not in the sexual sense, in spite of the unrealised whiff of eroticism emanating from the lovely Miss Krige's performance as the repressed Miss Benjamenta.
