In the Fade (2017)

£0.00

(Aus dem Nichts)

Country: GER/FR
Technical: col/2.35:1 106m
Director: Fatih Akin
Cast: Diane Kruger, Denis Moschitto, Numan Acar

Synopsis:

A German woman married to a reformed drug dealer negotiates the many levels of grief after a nail bomb explodes outside his office.

Review:

Sympathetically constructed in movements, Akin's film is 'inspired' by the activities of Neo-Nazi groups in the early years of the millennium, who targeted individuals by virtue of their foreign nationality alone. While channelling miscarriage of justice and revenge narratives, it operates both as a thriller and a psycho-drama, as the heroine finds life without her family impossible. It is precisely made in the German manner, and Kruger, who is never off the screen, delivers a career-best performance.
